Hello,

I joined this site wanting to maintain a healthy weight, tone, build my endorence and get rid of my tummy. My fiance also joined and once he saw my dairy said that in order for me to loose the tummy i needed to loose weight. Well, I like my current (before MFP) weight 120. Since joining I've lost about 4 pd...116 and I still have a fat tummy...I don't want to loose weight.... I struggled to gain the weight in the first place...al my life I've been very thin. I was teased because I was skinny, told that I looked sick and more. That's not a place I want to revisit. Most people think my current size is perfect however I'm not happy with my stomach and I want a rounder bottom...lol

What should I do? I plan to change my goals back to maintaining current weight but is that the best thing for me to do?

Who else is trying to do this???

i would say maintain, maybe even gain. muscle takes up less space than fat so to stay your size but turn your fat into muscle you might gain some. Eat more protein to help your body build muscle. Maybe look up toning exercises, i believe Jillian Michael's has some dvds to tone you (Ripped in 30, 6 week 6 pack, etc). Look around :)

More good advice...I love it! I don't think I want to go over 130 but if it's muscle and looks good on me, I'll work with it. Thanks!

There are a number of threads on here about lifting women. This is just one: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/299434-why-women-should-lift-weights?hl=why+women+should+lift&page=1#posts-3960921

Also check out my friend anewlucia she has truly mastered getting in shape with muscle, but not man muscle but beautiful woman muscle.

Thanks everyone for all the info.
  • To flatten your tummy, you need to lose fat. To lose fat and maintain your current weight, you need to build muscle. Lift heavy, eat right, and you'll lower your BF%. That's only way to flatten your stomach.
