Weight loss hypnosis

So I am not really over weight, but I need to tone my body. The only problem is that I sit at work & all I think about is food. It gets so bad, I can start to smell & taste what I'm craving. I've heard that hypnosis really works, but I don't want to spend too much $ and I don't know where to start. Does anyone have any info on this?

There's a book by Paul McKenna called "I can make you Thin" that has an excellent hypnosis CD included. It seemed to work for me for about 5 days or so, then I don't know what happened. He has a gorgeous deep British accent that alone is worth the cost of the book!
Even better, there's "Instant Self-Hypnosis" by Forbes Robbins Blair available on the Kindle for only $1.99 (U.S.) even if you don't have a Kindle, you can download a Kindle app for your notebook or PC and get the book and read it on the Kindle. I just started reading it last night and it was.... interesting. Several different Hypnosis therapies for losing weight, including "Motivation to exercise" and "Eating Healthy" and just general "Losing Weight."
Anyone else have any experience with this?

I've got the Paul McKenna app for my iPhone. It seemed to start noticeably working around day 4 (now on Day 9). The more I listen to the trance, the easier it seems to remember to use the other techniques like "Overcoming Emotional Eating". I've also had personal hypnotherapy sessions, and they were wonderful, just way too expensive for me to keep it up. I only post an official weight loss on Tuesdays, but unofficially, I lost 2.5 pounds this week. Not too bad for someone who struggles to lose half a pound a week.0

I've got the Paul McKenna book & cd as well, it seem to have worked for me but then I've stopped doing it for some reason (cba?). I used to listen to it every night in bed till I fall asleep...0

I see a real hypnotherapist- she is a licensed and trained clinical therapist, who specializes in hypnosis- she accepts my insurance- and my insurance treats her like any other counselor-
If you have insurance, I would see if they cover mental health counseling- if they do (I only have a $25 co-pay, just liek any other specialist). If they do, check with your state (if youa re in the US- nof not, I'm not sure what you would do) and see who licenses counselors and hynotherapists and then see if any are on your insurance.
I have been seeing mine for years for many reasons (anxiety, weight loss, a little OCD) and it helps me tremedously.

I've done hypnosis for more "relaxation" purposes - help with stress, anxiety, general OCD type tendencies (apparently not everything has to be perfect?) hahah
its SO much better then a day at the spa. i swear - i feel A-Mazing when Im done.
totally thought it was hocus pocus the first time I went - but I am a firm believer now
I would recommend but... you do have to do it a few times for the thoughts to really STICK in the brain.
AND... let one of the other posters mentioned - you have to find a licensed Hypnotherapist... you have to trust who you are working with so you can completely relax and let it all work.

Honestly, though hypnosis can work, most at home CDs are more about progressive relaxation and mantra repetition than anything else.
I sit at a desk all day myself, and the best way to combat this is to not enable yourself. Set out your meal plan, and take those times that you are feeling this urge for food as a signal that your body is bored. I mean, that's pretty much what it is. That can be your trigger to go walk around the office, go to the bathroom and stretch, do *something*...
You can reprogram your brain on your own, you just have to want it.
I use a bike at my desk, a mini-stationary cycle, and I put my feet on those pedals when I feel bored, sleepy, or experience other triggers like stress and anxiety. I have managed to keep from emotional eating almost 100% of the time, and have lost weight to boot! I highly recommend getting one, or a sit and step.

I know this is an old question, but I want to put my 2 cents in.
I used hypnosis and lost weight. On a 7 day cruise. While my cruise mates gained close to 10 pounds each, I lost 2. And I ate what I wanted including the yummy deserts, but mainly when I walked to the buffet, I craved the veggies and fruits. Which was one of the suggestions my hypnotist used.

I've actually tried a couple free programs years ago. One subliminal hypnosis thing, and one relaxation/hypnosis thing. They did nothing. :P Definitely don't waste your money on anything you have to pay for.0
