HRM wont read

Got my new Bios fitness HRM today, have the chest strap on wet the thing +++, have tried it positioned on my side, back, centre front, tried the straps loose, tight and in between, have tried exercising to build up a sweat, yet its still innacurate when it very really gets a reading! its driving me mad! I know I have a high resting heart rate but good bp, as check it regularly at work, well this effect it?

its brand new so the batteries etc should be fine

any help would be appreciated, have googled and checked the message boards

    Hi, I don't have that brand. Did you get it online? I bought mine online (Polar) and had trouble with it reading. When I set it, the default date came up as 2009, so I thought maybe that's when it was made. On a hunch I replaced the batteries, and it's been working fine since. Maybe you can try that. Good luck.
