You probably just over did it. Especially if you have never worked out before.

i would just try to do some lite stretching and take some time off from the crunches.

do you do pilates with an instructor or just a video at home kind of thing?

You may have pulled a muscle around your ribs. Just going to take time to heal.

 I think I missed something here? Chapped lips, sore abs?

Anyhow it's good to have sore abs, means your body's working hard. A pain is different than sore, if it's truly a pain as suggested, take it easy and do some stretching and give the abs some rest.

When starting out working out it's good to start slowly so your body can adjust. Someone ask if you're in a Pilates class or doing a tape, Pilates is awesome for all body parts but done wrong can do some serious injuries! Always best to start with an instructor so you learn correctly, this can go for Yoga as well.

    Feel better soon hon!:flowerforyou:

If it doesn't stretch out it could be a hernia. Not to freak you out or anything.

Actually I was kinda thinking a hernia but it is a video at home and I'm always careful not to overdo it....I just usually don't take this ling to recover from a pulled muscle. Its nit painful until I try to workout its like if you put a little ball there and trying to do a sirup around it...I'd be OK if it was on both sides LOL I just don't want to injure myself more...

Sorry just realized all my typos

I really would see a doctor about it. I mean the worst that can happen if its just a pulled muscle is that you have 15 minutes to ask a doctor any and every question you can think of that you might want an answer to.
If it sticks out or is a stabbing pain it is not just a pulled muscle. And even though it was just a video, you used muscles you weren't use to using and they could have been injured causing a hernia. No insurance blows but the exam will be cheaper now than if you wait and it becomes worse. Just my take on it. But if you don't plan on going to the doctor then at least get a massage. Just request a therapist that has experience doing abdominal work and even sports injuries.

Just be really careful because I overworked my Abs and ended up getting a double hernia above my belly button and had to have surgery to fix it! It felt like a knot or a little hard ball the size of a marble.

Smartest Solution is to go see a Doctor as suggested previously

FYI: Mine didn't hurt either but they can be dangerous so if it is a hernia you need to get it fixed asap

when you got this did it happen all the time or just now and again?

I don't know if another already suggested this, but I love stretching out with the Cobra pose after an ab workout. It feels so good to stretch out the abs.

I could not feel the hard ball all the time b/c it can "hide" in there. I actually had my normal annual checkup and they missed it! You have to go to a specialist

Are you feeling less sore now after a couple days? Pilates is one fantastic workout for the entire body, amazing how after doing it you don't have a clue how much you're really worked your body. So between lots of crunches, then Pilates, your body is likely adjusting ... but as others shared if it's pain and not simple sore muscles, not a bad idea to check it out.

Hope things are much better for you now after taking a bit of time off to rest your body!:drinker: :flowerforyou:
