I drink on average 3 - 24oz. bottles of Diet Pepsi a day and have managed to lose a little weight (check out my ticker below) in the process. I am not bloated, I am not craving sweets, I am a type 2 diabetic and it has no effects on my insulin resistance, My waist went from 78 inches to currently wearing 36-38 inch shorts......
  • My father and I are prime examples on why diet soda has nothing diet in it at all.........I have always been huge, my freshmen year of college I decided to get ahold of my weight and do Weight Watchers. Based on the points system I could have as much diet coke as I wanted and wouldn't suffer any loss of my points awarded to me each day. This was great when I was starving myself, which is why Weight Watchers did not work out for me. The diet coke made me hungrier then I really was and I didn't lose any inches around my waist until after I developed an eating disorder. My Dad had gastric bypass surgery. He lost over a 100lbs and was doing really great til he started drinking the diet soda. 5 yrs after his surgery he has put weight back on and his stomach is stretched all the way back out again. I used to drink diet soda like crazy. I never lost a significant amout of weight, and I craved more and more diet soda. Anyone who tells you that you don't crave it, has either A. Never tried it or B. Hasn't tried to give it up themselves. It has been scientifcally proven that diet soda and carbonation expand your stomach, and then when it exits leaves your stomach stretched out and thus more hungrier, and needing to be filled with more food then actually needed. Soda in general hasn't been around long enough for doctors or scientists to know its true effect on the human body. We essentially lab rats, some who do okay, and others who develope illness'. I haven't had any soda in three months. I have more energy, and I'm losing weight. Just because soda is offered EVERYWHERE doesn't mean it's good for you.

My husband tends to eat more when he drinks diet pop. I don't drink diet (can't stand the stuff) but I do know that the carbonation in the pop or something will erode teeth. I know as I am now having dental work done. (being a sipper made it worse). I now drink occasional pop maybe 1-2 a month due to the calories, but I cut down when I realized what a mess it made.
