We are having pasta bol tonight but all the pasta's are measured in the database by dry. If I am having one cup of long spaghettini how can i figure that out?

Just do a food search for "cooked spaghetti", and there are a few different listings.

If I dont find what I need in MFP I create my own food entry, once you create a food it stays in your list.

I guess this is something I have to make up myself then, just that when i put the parts together the calories seem HUGE even though there is lean beef in it.

Not always - you have to use the food you create regularly, else it drops off your "My Foodds" list. It does, however remain in the MFP database.
  • is there a difference between dry and cooked pasta in the amount of calories???

Pasta is a biggy on cals if you add it right. Here are a few tricks to keep pasta in your diet and lose weight. Pick a whole grain pasta, comapare lables at the store, find the best option. buy some zucchini. with a large grater "make zucchini spagetti" spray a pan with a little pam olive oil, and lightly saute the zucchini, add it to a smaller portion of pasta and top with sauce etc. I usually have 1/2 cup pasta to 1 cup zucchini. I sometimes just slice the zuchini in chuncks if im having rotini or elbow. either way it has little taste and is a great filler, after all the pasta is the vhehicle for great sauce. savour every bite. when you make up your plate put the left overs in a container right away and never leave the pasta bowl on the table infront of you, second helpings will result.

Just the amounts, because cooked pasta expands. 1 cup of dry pasta contains a lot more calories than 1 cup of cooked pasta.
  • We get a bag of Brocolli slaw and saute it in coconut oil then add that to the pasta to "bulk" it up. Add whatever sause you like and ta da! I ordered miracle noodles so I'm hoping I will be able to enjoy the feeling of pasta and rice without the carbs. I am waiting for them to be delivered. Maybe today?!?
