What are the benefits of joining? How helpful is the staff?
I'm a gym beginner and am looking for a gym to join that will not break the bank and has many locations since I travel a lot.

My friend uses Planet Fitness & really loves it. She says it's clean but no frills like the higher priced gyms. I think she got a free trainer for a few sessions with signing up. I'm like you, the tanning beds & sauna's aren't a selling point anyway so why pay for them.
