What abs exercises leave you feeling sore the next day and show results for you? I want to hear all the details: what moves you do, how many sets, how many reps, if you use weights how heavy they are... and if you care to back up your program with some photo proof... I want to end up with a 'menu' of activities I can pull from to get my core a little more involved in my workouts.

Front pause squats for time and smith ball planks.

Don't have a profile picture but you can look through my other pics and I have something in there.

Front squats kill the abs. Is the pause at the bottom? I'd be afraid of getting stuck, lol.

I do weighted crunches on the exercise ball. I hold a dumbbell on my upper chest, just below my neck, flex my spine over the back of the ball, and come back up just enough to use the ab muscles to straighten the spine. Hits the abs hard without working the hip flexors (as long as you don't roll forward/drop your hips on the way up). Only takes 2 heavy sets of 8-10 to wipe me out.

Yeah pause at the bottom 3-5 actual seconds, kind of like a ground up squat. Its my go to for quad/ab rape.

Wanna be a bit more specific as to what a front pause squat is? ...I'm still learning...:blushing:

Its just like a back squat, but your hold the bar in front, resting on your shoulders. This allows you to have a more upright chest when performing the squat motion. The weight is also resting more on the frontal muscles abs, quads instead of lumbar, glutes, hams.

The pause takes place at the bottom of the squat, where you hip joint is below your knee joint. Do this facing a clock because when you get into that "hole" you will count as fast as possible cheating your time in the "hole".

Do this for 1 minuet straight, to start off. Count how many reps you do. Rest a few minuets, and Go for another minuet doing more reps, but still spending 3-5 REAL seconds in the "hole".

Maintaining that weight and balance is an AMAZING ab work out.

I love working out my abs!I do lots of different things:Leg lifts (feet together -legs straight while laying on your back on the floor) go slow using your abs to lift legs all the way until they are straight.Slowly lower back down-keep legs straight the whole time. You can also lift your hips when feet are parallel to the ceiling like L
I also do twist crunches:lay on your back hands loosely behind your head.Bring knees up slowly while bringing opposite elbow(right elbow to left knee).Do NOT squeeze your head or neck!
There are lots of things you can do for your abs without laying down too!Try hula, pilates, dancing, yoga, tae bo,etc.
I would google ab workouts or check out a dvd (or netflix) for some more ideas.Hope I made it clear enough.Good luck!
