Cravings

How do you stop a craving? Or do you just go for it and eat a small portion? I find that if I brush my teeth when I am really craving a 'bad' food then I won't eat it because I will have the minty taste in my mouth.

good thinking! I love chocolate so I allow my self 2 extremely lovely chocolates a day... usually hand made truffles.. It's expensive but in my mind it is a treat! also if I am going to lapse I just think that I will have them later!!! infact I have just had them Mmmmmmmmmm0

It depends on the kind of craving, because there've been studies that have shown that when you're craving something, there's something in what you're craving that your body needs.
My advice: have a small portion to satisfy or find a diet-friendly alternative. You might be craving McDonalds french fries just for the salt, which can be easily fixed with some baked Lays chips or something.0 -
Yes, I use the teeth-brushing trick, too, especially at night. Sometimes I have a measured amount, and somtimes I try to go do something else to get my mind off the craving.0

I always have an issue with chocolate, which is why I've learned to keep hershey kisses close by. I have one or two and my chocolate cravings are tamed. lol I also try not to think about it or reach for a healthier alternative. Green apples and baby carrots have become my good friends.0

I give in to it - eat a small portion, fit it into my calories, and work out. Substitutions don't work for me. That being said, my cravings are usually nut butters and dark chocolate... so I don't feel TOO awful about consuming them.0
