Exercise after c-section?

So, of you women that have had c-sections, when did you start exercising again? I am 2 months post baby and am now feeling well enough to start exercising (I even vacuumed for the first time since the baby). I had complications with my c-sec and so it's taken me a while to feel well enough to do anything.

I want to go back to the gym, and my doctor said to start pretty light, but I was wondering what exercises you all started with and when did you work up to say like, the thigh machines and whatnot? I'm still terrified to do stairs =/

I started walking 2 weeks after and about 6 weeks after for lifting weights and intense exercise. If your Dr. has cleared you then I say go for it, just listen to your body and work back into it.
  • It took almost a year for me not to ache where my incision was when doing crunches... but once my doctor gave me the ok... I just pushed through it and believe it or not... exercise helps heal those sliced muscles. Listen to your body. :) Good luck... I'm still not all the way there...!
  • I had mine in the late eighties, and I couldn't afford a gym, but I worked out pretty intensely to those early morning exercise shows that came on then . There was also a string of them that on around noon. I was able to work in a couple of those shows and I lost the weight within six months. I didn't try to go "light", I really wanted to feel a burn! I think pushing yourself some is the best way to lose. Good luck and you have a cute baby!
