Hi, I am 52 and have around 150 lbs to lose. I just started today and already had a set back.. Geesh, I have been on several different diets and such, with some weight lose then I end up slipping and not getting back on track. I have some health problems due to my weight. I want to get healthy, but I get discouraged and give in to temptation.

Welcome, Dont feel like you are behind, think of it as just starting, 'a fresh start'.
Wish you lots of success with great results.0 -
We all have slip ups now and then.
Try and decide why it happened.
Think of a plan to stop it or something you could do instead for next time.
Move on, don't dwell and get yourself down.
Good luck!!!!!0 -
Hi, everybody I am new here but I am already seeing progress even though I lost only 6 pounds which is water weight I am determined to keep going and to achieve my goal of 180 pounds. I am a 19 year old girl from Maryland and I weigh 250 pounds. I recently gained so much weight since I moved in with my boyfriend. I am now counting calories and keeping a log of my daily intake. I exercise on my treadmill at home for 35 minutes a day and do 20 minutes of Just Dance 3 lls. I would appreciate any tips on at home exercises and healthy recipes.0

Try doing new exercises. If you continue with the same your body will get use to it and not react as well. I treadmill 5 days, 3 are for a long haul 2 are short days with core and strength after. The other 2 days I jog around my neighborhood on the uneven ground and do some core at the end of the route before returning.
Just mix it up. Hope this helps!!0 -
A girlfriend just gave me the www for this site. I am so new I have just filled out the profile. I actually kept my calories under the 1200 today without even knowing that I would be here tonight.
Anxious to begin- it is sooooooooo time!!!

HI and welcome!
I am old/new here myself. I have been here doing nothing for a long time- in fact- going backwards. I started on my new journey a couple of days ago. I am like you- down 2 pounds - I am looking at a long journey- but going to take it a day at a time. Set backs will happen, just have to get back with the program. welcome0 -
welcome to MFP!! You might want to open your profile and food journal to the public.0

Most of us mature women have some health issue. But we can't use it as an excuse. For instance, last March I could only walk one minute straight after blood clots in my legs and heart almost ended my life. My Doctor said walk until I could do 30 minutes straight. It took me months and when I went back and told him I did 30 minutes he said he meant 45 minutes. I now am doing some form of exercise every day. Walking, video workout tapes, or going to the gym. You CAN do this but you need to do it for yourself and your life! Good Luck!0
