Minimalist shoes for wide feet

I am a fan of the minimalist type of shoe. I had all kinds of issues with my ankle and after getting a pair of Vibram Five Fingers, all the pain went away. Now I have been out of the minimalist shoes for a while because I wore through the old pair and couldn't afford to buy both them and shoes for work. I went today and I found out that my foot has gotten wider and my selection doesn't appear to include the minimalist shoes. Does anyone know o a company that makes minimalist shoes for people with wide feet? They don't even have to be the kind with separate toes as long as they have a sufficiently sized toe box.

Thanks in advance.

  • I would in a heart beat but the whole no shoes, no shirt, no service thing kind of gets in the way lol.

Interested to hear replies. I really wanted to get the Merrell Trail Glove or the NB Minimus, but my feet were too wide to make a comfortable fit.

I eventually settled on Nike Free Run's, which I absolutely love, but these are not true minimalist shoes; they're just minimalist-esque.
  • I found these if they interest anyone. http://www.softstarshoes.com/ They actually will take the measurements of your foot to make a shoe. Not sure how I feel about them yet but they give me some hope.

I don't have wide feet but I run in Fila Skeletoes which I LOVE. They are definitely more adjustable then Vibrams.

I have the merrell pace glove and my husband has the Merrell Trail Glove. We love them!! He has wide feet and these are perfect for him. He couldn't fit into the Five finger shoes.

Give the below website a try... It's a lot of vibram becaue of the widespread nature of the VFF;s, but they cover all minimalist shoes...

I love my minimalist running shoes. I have wide flat feet and because of surgeries I need a shoe that doesn't have a narrow toe box. I have minimalist running shoes that are made by Brooks. They were around $90 when I bought them but worth every penny. I have thought about trying the Vibrams but I can't get past the feeling of stuff between my toes. I hope you find something that works for you. When I went to get fitted for running shoes they kept trying to talk me into ones with extra support and grids to keep my feet and ankle straight. I was so uncomfortable I wouldn't run. Minimalists made running fun for me again.

I got Keen A86 shoes...and they feel extremely light and are labeled a minimalist shoe...air goes through them, they are very flexible and Keens tend to run wide.

    I love them.

The Five-fingers don't work for me... my big toe rubs on the seams on the inside because of the shape...I have had to return them twice for the same issues. I keep hoping they will come out with a style with no seams on the toes, but I suppose that's some sort of engineering challenge. Haha!

Goodness those sure are ugly!
  • I wear my Vibrams to work! My boss OK'd it, and my feet are in heaven.

Check http://www.vivobarefoot.com/us/ -- I've heard good things about them and I'm looking into getting a pair for my next 'walkaround' shoe for when I don't want so much attention -- my vibrams are bright green!

I have wide feet and just got the Merrell Lithe Glove. I adore them, but I'm biased because I can wear them to work since we carry them :P
