Food Safari

A friend of mine recently recommended that I go on a food safari, then explained that when I go grocery shopping that, upon entering the store, I stay along the outside walls rather than go down the aisles. He further explained that the aisles are where all the processed foods are located. While on my safari, I am supposed to purchase one fruit or vegetable that I have never tried before to see if I like it.

Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like a good idea. Anybody try something similar?

It sounds interesting if it works. All my favourite junk foods are close to the ends of aisles and around the outside at my local supermarket, though.

I always shop like this. The only things I go down an interior aisle for are items like black beans, almond butter, olive oil and seasonings. I completely avoid the snack aisle altogether. I like to think of it as shopping for real food, rather than what I call "food product..." i.e. processed foods.
