I have a 16 hour (32 hours round trip) drive ahead of me (solo and with 2 kids under 6 : P), and a 4 day stay in a southern hotel. I'm completely blanking on food that i can prepare ahead of time to either eat on the road or that i'll be able to eat while stuck in the land of sweet tea and biscuits. Can anyone help me out with some primal/paleo foods that will travel well? I'm going to a family members funeral and haven't seen that side of the family in 10 years....so needless to say it will be a bit crazy, and i doubt i'll be able to sit down and eat much....or get to choose where we eat.

i've got the obvious...

nuts
beef jerky
fruit
veggies
maybe some paleo "muffins"

I need some more protein options. i'm planning on fasting at least one of the days, but i can't do that the whole time.

f you have a cool box, perhaps some chicken drumsticks? I'm a fan of pre-cooked bacon as a snack too.

Pemmican (Tanka Bars), beef jerky, grill some chicken or steak and cut into strips.

If you go through a fast food restaurant, even though not optimal..............get a salad and a bunless burger or grilled chicken sandwich.............

Make some homemade lara bars! They aren't the lowest in carbs, but they are primal and good, filling snacks. Fruit and nuts are the only ingredients, plus dark chocolate if you want that.

I also eat a lot of kalamata olives for snacks, those will travel well.

lara bars----what a good excuse to make some! I was going to try them out last weekend, but got side tracked by a million other yummy dishes.

and how could i forget about bacon!!!!

I have come to the resolve that i might not be able to eat perfectly paleo (considering my only food store choice will be piggly wiggly), but i'm going to get as close to perfect as i can!

keep 'em coming if anyone has anymore!
