Getting back on the wagon is tough

I was doing so well - it takes so little to throw me off the wagon.
My husband and I got taken out to dinner by a law firm interested in hiring him. Chinese banquets are so difficult - I can't even make a guess at what the food is, I'm never full because you just take tiny bites, and I can't estimate or measure it because we all eat off of plates swinging around the lazy Susan. I didn't enter it because I wouldn't even know where to start - but then, when I don't enter it, I'm not accountable, and a late night fighting with a credit card company was filled with apples, pumpkin seeds, and cheese for snacks since we didn't have much in the house. Now I'm back up 5 pounds.
The habit of not entering food follows me around and is hard to shake. I had some bites of an egg salad sandwich this morning, part of a jumbo pretzel, all difficult to measure, and some kind of peanut thing coated in something. Again, I can't really identify exactly what I'm eating, but I force myself to put something in, anything. I have to start somewhere to get back on the wagon. As Obama says, don't let perfection be the enemy of the essential (or the good, or the necessary? I can't remember exactly).

I've found that using the website is too time consuming and arduous.
So instead, I log everything I eat on my laptop (since it's always with me).
Using a notepad could be do the same thing if you just bring it around with you.
Once you've looked up the amount of calories for a few things, you can make pretty good estimations.
I just overestimate everything I eat and let myself work off that. I find it a lot easier.
That way I'm not reaching for the little snacks like they're nothing either, because I'll still be logging them. And if I'm not quite sure where to start with them, by overestimating them I know I'm not going over my limit.
Then again it depends on how strict you are on keeping above your minimum calories.0 -
try not to think of every "mistake" as falling off the wagon..I find this causes major setbacks..just learn from it and move on..its much easier that way and it allows you not to dwell on "getting back on the wagon"....utilize the tools that best suit you..I agree using a notepad may be best0
