I've tried doing a search in past posts to find the answer but I can't find the solution I'm looking for. Does anyone know why my calories burned from exercise are getting less? I just joined last week and it said for my 60 min of walking at 3.0 that I would burn 295 calories. It is now saying only 288?

    It's because you're losing weight :3
The less you weigh*, the harder it is to burn calories.
Just think of it as motivation to push yourself harder as your body becomes more fit.

It also depends where you're getting this calorie info from.
If its from a HRM then perhaps its because your body is adapting to the exercise, and therefore not burning as much as it would originally. You can change this by changing up your exercise routine.

(*wow. I can't believe I spelled that incorrectly....)

    Hmmm....that makes sense.

I've debated about a heart rate monitor but for now I got my 'calories burned' info from this website.

I would suggest a HRM. Its more accorate than anything on a website can be. I love mine and everyone on here that has one loves theirs.

Do you have one that you have to wear the thing around your chest? I wonder what version the majority of people have?

I just got mine in the mail today! Can't wait to use it tomorrow. I think it's going to really help me push myself harder at the gym.

I got the Reebox Precision Trainer XT. It was pretty easy (for me atleast) to get it set up and ready to go. I would definitely suggest getting one with a strap because they are more accurate.

It was between the Reebok and a Polar. I just happened to find the Reebok on Ebay for only $40 including shipping & brand new! Couldn't pass it up.

I've only noticed Reebok and Polar. I have the Polar and never read anything bad about either.

I have a Polar F6 and would usually completely guess how many cals i would burn in an aerobics class.. well last night i did 15 mins on the spinning bike, followed by 10 mins on the running machine.. then had 1 hour of aerobics... total cals burnt... 647!! wooowzaz  sooo now that i have my HRM i know how many cals i am burning instead of guessing and getting it completely wrong.. AND i know how much i can eat back!! whoopiieee

Depending on your size, the machines at the gym are always way off - way too low for big people and way too high for small people. And these are the people that enter in the cals burned for a particular activity... so it totally depends on who entered it in. I just got an HRM (TImex) with a strap and discovered why I was feeling so lousy - I was burning way more cals than I thought and wasn't eating enough! And that's exactly why I got the HRM - because I just didn't know what the cals were exactly.

I find that with every little bit of weight I lose, as little as 2 pounds, the # of cals I burn goes down.

The more weight you lose the less calories you will burn doing the same exercise because there is less of you to workout, that's good news.
