It seems like I have a problem staying motivated for a very long time... I do good till I get to just about 10% and I feel great I can see a difference in myself and suddenly I'm thinking oh I can have that cause I've been doing so good but then the weight slowly starts to creep back up... what tricks do you guys have to keep yourself motivated after you start to feel good?

My "trick" is to allow a spike meal (or day). Right now it's once a month, but many do it once a week. The idea is to allow yourself to have one you want on this day of for a meal. This does a lot of good things:
- Keeps you sane, you don't have to completely give up your favorite food that is high in calories
- Gives you a monthly or weekly reward that you can use to keep motivated
- Gives you a 1 day spike in your calories (hence the phrase "spike day") that can help get your metabolism going
- Helps keep you "on the wagon"
I'm sure others can provide additional reasons why a spike day or meal is beneficial.
Just remember, the goal is to have a calorie deficit each week. Don't let your spike day negate this.0 -
Yes, spike days may help...
But, if you are like me, it is more mental/emotional... I have lived with this weight for some time, and after I went beyond the 10% mark, it was like something inside me said, wait! no! we can't DO this... what barrier will we have? what will we present ourselves like to the world? what if we fail at the rest of the loss?
... and other such nonsense... but it is real in our heads... well, if you are like me that is :blushing:
anyhow, i suggest taking one day at a time... log what you can, exercise what you can, and keep on going...
You will get to where you want to be (deep down inside you know where that is, friend) and DO NOT stress over the numbers on the scale... take measurements and enjoy what you have accomplished thusfar!
Congrats to you & best on your journey!0
