....Well...not THAT type of back!

As I've gotten older it's become glaringly obvious that backs are super sexy! And make a huge impact on the overall look of 'fitness' on a woman (or man!).

So, what are your suggestions? How do you work on your back? I strength train 3x a week but have definitely fallen into my routine and need to break it up! Plus, I've never really focused on my back so I'm curious to learn what others are doing...

Thanks! :glasses:

I've been meaning to ask this very question, or close to it. What exercise could I do at home, with no weights, to start working on my back muscles? Like, you can do pushups for your arms and shoulders, crunches for your tummy, walking on inclines for legs and butt, but back...? My husband thinks I should work on doing pull-ups for my back, which means I would have to get a pullup bar.

I'd love to know what you all say about this!

PS I think I was the only person in the world who HATED that dress.

    Planks.
Pushups help your back as well. Pushups work your abs too.
Any kind of over heard pull....with a resistance band or something of that nature would work.

    Push-ups and Yoga.

    Push-ups:

Start with as many as you can and work up about 1 more per week. They are great for stress, back strength, sexy shoulders and mustle toning arms.

    Yoga:

There are magazines, DVD's, internet sites. Find a type that works for you.

No money or equipment required for either.

YOGA! There are so many great yoga postures and flows that concentrate on building a strong core and back muscles . . . a full yoga practice is best to provide balance to the entire body, but using individual poses to strength certain areas is good, too. Yoga Journal has a great website with poses listed by body part/physical need, and you can even build your own sequence right there on their site based on what you want to work on!

As an example, here are their list of poses for the lower back: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/finder/anatomical_focus/lower_back

Tomorrow is legs and back day for P90X, so I'll have to let you know what we do on that... I can't remember... there are so many exercies I can't remember which ones are on which workouts. I know it has alot of weight exercies on it though. Also, I know I do a few pull ups with it too.... not really any push ups I don't think though.. they mostly work your pecks and arms.

Thanks!!! Some of these sites are super helpful!

Pushups = my kryptonite ... but not time like the present!

And thanks for the yoga tip! I'd never thought of that but will be more aware of how the moves are strengthening my back from here on out! :flowerforyou:
