Want to make the life style change. Did vegan last year and I felt great! I already do not consume dairy products to begin with.
So...Any vegan peeps out there?
Any of you get a bad "rap" for your dietary habits? How has living the Vegan life affected your weight?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • I've been a vegetarian for 5/6 years and I don't eat eggs or milk either. I think it definitely helps you to get the right things as I tend to have fresh veg with all my main meals which my non-veg friends never do. It's quite easy to stick to the calorie count amount too. I have had a lot of people doubt my health due to the amount of protein I get as it isn't much but I don't believe there have been any negative effects since being vegetarian.
  • I've been vegetarian for about 5ish months, vegan since January first. I love it!!

For me, it has helped my weight-loss because there are more restrictions on what I can eat- you can save a ton of calories if you're going from eating turkey burgers to kidney beans... ;) I had already quit eating butter a while ago because it makes me sick (thinking about the texture and slimy-ness is just gross) but yogurt was hard for me to give up for I was slightly addicted to Chobani :)

I don't get any bad "rap" most people accept it and move on haha.

I had a question in return, though. How much do you go over on your fiber every day?? I go over a lot and I'm worried that it's too much but being vegan, most foods are high in fiber for they're mostly fruits, vegs, and beans...

    HealthyHappyV-

I am starting my vegan journey tomorrow. I do know if I go over on my fiber I tend to get bloated-is that too much TMI? I am planning out my meals for the week: fiber cereal with soy milk and a banana. Almonds and grapes to snack on. Lunch with be my own version on a Chipotle bowl: brown rice, beans, fajita veggies, pico de gallo. And dinner I am making a crock pot full of quinoa and red lentil soup. Also snack on veggies and hummus. Next Monday I want to do the 21 day jump start to becoming a vegan.

I wouldn't think going over too much on fiber would be bad...Fiber helps your digestive system :)
