I was wondering what everyone's feeling on eating after working out? My boyfriend and I walk every night and are both losing weight. My question is we go to the club anywhere between 4:30 and 5:30 I eat after we get back he eats before which is better? I feel if i haven't ate my 1200 for the day its ok to eat after. He says I am eating to late...

Calories in/calories out is really it. The only difference would be is how do you feel eating before a workout, are you so hungry afterwards that you have to eat again, to the point where you might exceed your calorie limit? 1200 calories in is 1200 calories at the end of the day, like I said, whatever keeps you feeling full the most throughout the day is probably what you should aim for.0

i eat late all the time. meal timing has nothing to do with weight loss as long as you stay at your calorie goal. most nights i have a protein shake/smoothie after working out. sometimes its as high as 600 calories and i have it an hour or so before going to bed. ive been losing just fine0

Yep, meal timing is irrelevant. Do what works best for your body. I prefer to work out on an empty stomach and eat afterwards.0

I try to have something light before working out, turkey and a cheese stick or fruit and peanut butter. Unfortunetly for me, I get nauseous if I eat a whole meal before working out. But I do have milk and a small meal afterwards (otherwise I am starving soon after and over eat). Good Luck.0

I think eating after a workout is very important. I like either protein shakes or some low fat cottage cheese and yogurt. Right after a workout you body is starving for amino acids and proteins.0

Doesnt matter when you eat.
Calories in/Calories out.
be very accurate with measurements and you will see progress0 -
Eat before and after. A small amount of carbs before will give you the energy for a good workout and ensure you don't have a low blood sugar during it. Afterwards, you need both protein and carbs. You just burned a bunch of energy, you need to replenish. If you sweated a lot, you need some electrolytes too.
I think eating after exercise makes perfect sense. Think about the way most animals live. Burst of high activity (hunting or scavenging behavior) followed by a meal, followed by a good nap. Imo humans aren't any different.0 -
I feel best when I eat something small (like a piece of fruit) before a workout and then something higher in protein (turkey and cheese/greek yogurt with fruit) after. If I eat too big of a meal before or after I feel sick! I guess it comes down to personal preference though0
