question about calculating exercise cals

Hey guys, I just went out and had a hit of tennis with my family. It was not a hard game at all. I have three little cousins younger than 8. So most of it was just hitting back and forth between them.
When I put in tennis general into the exercise diary it says I used 600+ cal. I do not think this would be right.
So yea, I'm basically asking what you reckon I should put it in at.
walked 5 min there and back at a casual pace; then did an hour of tennis. Im 5'8" and 99.6kg.

an hour of light jogging for me is about 500 calories - I'm 5'6" and .... fewer kilograms than that. By a lot. so I don't think that is totally out of whack for you.0

Maybe about 300.
Here is a rough rule of thumb. Rate your exertion level on a scale from 1 to 10. Multiply by number of minutes, and that's your calorie count. So to get 300, I figure an exertion level of 5 times 60 minutes.
It's a method I use to get a ballpark estimate sometimes. Take the number with a grain of salt of course. But in this case, I bet it's more accurate than 600+.0 -
tbh i would probably not log it as exercise, but i have my activity level set higher than sedentary..
id think of it as normal daily activity, like when i walk my kids to the park and chase them around/push them on the swings and merry go round...
If you really want to log it, maybe count half? for the future you could maybe use a HRM with strap to get a more accurate number0 -
When I used to go out and do extra stuff like that (soccer casually, etc), I'd log about half of what MFP gave me, just to be safe. Recently I got a heart rate monitor (cheap one for $30 at ****'s Sporting Goods)...and it has been SUCH a big help, as I can now more accurately log what I burned doing things like that. It's been a huge encouragement to me, as I always thought I was cheating myself (to avoid cheating)...so I'd suggest a HRM, if you can get one.0

Of course, I got it at "Richard's" Sporting Goods.
