Glad I upped my calories!

It's been roughly 4 weeks since I started taking this seriously again.
The first two weeks my caloric intake, via MFP, was set at 1240 or 1280 or something like that. I lost about 2 pounds, but I just felt like I wasn't eating enough. So, I posted in the fitness/nutrition forum for some advice and everyone agreed I should up my calories. I upped them to about 1570-1600, and really increased my protein (wasn't getting nearly enough) and the end result?
In total since I started (~4wks) I'm down about 8 pounds and 12.05 inches! I'm SO glad I upped my calories!
Just thought I'd say something in case somebody needed motivation to do what I did (up the intake). It's not everyone's solution but it's been working for me!

I think I need to take your advice - I haven't gone over 1200 in almost 7 weeks and am currently GAINING weight!
So depressing.
Many people suggest eating more but it's so damn difficult to get my head around when I've been raised to believe going without is the way to get results.
Thanks for telling us your story - it's certainly making me consider doing the same.0 -
wow really! it's nice to hear when it turn out right!!!! MFP started me off at 1200 to loose 1 lbs a week and i had a hard time not going over most days.... i was loosing slowly, 2 lbs a month. plus the last month i had been stuck, wasn't moving at all. ( at least it was a gain at all) but i got the same advice from many. upp the calories. so i changed my file to .5 lb loss instead of the 1 lb considering i wasn't loosing that much anyway, it gave me 1310 cals a day. not a huge amount difference but enough plus now i am over my bmr of 1252. I started doing that 2 weeks ago and this week i lost 1 lb, so i have kick started my loss again. still only a .5 lb loss but hopefully it's not atalled anymore plus i get extra calories i didn't get before
so it's win win...

yuckidah - There are a lot of variables as to why you lose what you do in the timeframe you do, but for me I really think I wasn't eating near enough for the activity I've been doing. I suggest giving it a try. What's a week or two going to do if you're not seeing results right now?0

I started at 1400 calories and lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks. But last week, I only lost 0.4lbs and not a single inch on my body. This week I upped my calories to 1600.I was a little apprehensive at first and I honestly thought I would gain this week because an extra 200 calories a day seemed like a lot. But today I was 0.8lbs down with an inch lost in my waist. I'm definitely sticking with this!0

Some will have to wait a bit longer than 1-2 weeks; it took me 3 weeks. I gained a little in the first 1.5 weeks [ETA: after increasing calories] but stuck with it, which was not easy - but I'm thankful I did. My loss is much better now with more calories.0
