Closer to 40....and reality hit me

Hi everyone....I've been overweight my entire life - even as a child. As a teenager, there was a year where I was not, but that was due to not eating (one of those lovely "teen" things I decided to do for a boy. stupid, I know...) Anyway, I turned 35 this year and realized...by math standards, I have to round up - this put me in the "40" age bracket now. I have 3 kids, all school aged and realized that we really need to set an example, but also just need to BE HERE to see them grow up.

My hubby started his weight loss journey in June 2011. I was doing great, walking with him, got him started, and for whatever reason, I stopped. He didn't need my help anymore, was walking with other people, and was able to walk faster than I could (back issues). I think I obviously have other issues though ;-) Anyway, we really changed our eating habits - we quit eating out, other than once in a great while, always had fruits & veggies on hand, and leaner meats. Things were going great - I don't know how much weight I lost, really because I don't like scales. from what I could estimate, it was about 20 pounds in about 2 months. But I could tell it in my clothes - they were getting loose.

Then, I don't know what happened. I just gave up. We had some problems being harassed in our small town, and I turned to my snacks again. I put weight back on, as did the hubby (about 20 pounds), but he also had surgery and was down for a good couple weeks and he quit smoking at that same time. Up until his surgery he had lost about 70 pounds.

So now that my novel is done....I'm taking back my life. I'm done with the negativity all the time. It stresses me out and the junk food soothed me. I realized if I'm going to be a stress eater, then I need to at least do fruits/veggies more. End of story. That was my first goal. I'm on a journey now to lose a good amount of weight, but will have smaller goals to meet simply because it will be easier for me. I've started recording all the foods I eat and....well, I found out I ate too much LOL

This site was that final push to do this. Extremely motivating! I can do this. It may take awhile, but I can do it. I'm sick of being fat. End of story. :-)

Looking forward to sharing my journey and hopefully motivating others, just as some of you have motivated me!

No rounding up! You're 35, and that's that! Good luck on the site. :)

YOU CAN DO IT AND TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE REMEMBER: WE EAT TO LIVE, AND NOT, LIVE TO EAT , AND YOU CONTROL THE FOOD AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND (THOUGH MANY TIMES WE FEEL THAT WE HAVE NOT A CHOICE) BUT THAT JUST A MINDSET THAT WE DECIDE TO KEEP FOR WHATEVER REASON , BUT IN THE MOMENT THAT YOU CHANGE THAT MINDSET, YOU ALREADY FELL LIKE THE WEIGHT IS OF AND YOU FEEL LIBERATED AND YOU REALIZE THAT YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO BETTER YOURSELF AND THOSE AROUND YOU AND EVERY DAY WILL SEEM SO MUCH BETTER BECAUSE YOU GETTING CLOSER TO WHAT YOU KNOW IS THE BEST YOU CAN BE, AND YOU DESERVE THAT. JUST KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE NO MATTER WHAT LIFE THROWS AT YOU AND JUST REMEMBER THAT TURNING TO OLD HABIT WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR LIFE FOR BETTER . ALL THE BEST!

Thank you all for the confidence boost :-) Sometimes just that alone is motivation enough!
