And i loved it!. I lost 5 lbs and am down 1.5 to 2 inches on all my measurements. I did have a problem with my knees though and was wondering if any of Jillian's DVD would be better for me to try? I am going to give my knees a break for a little bit but if anyone has any suggestions for a DVD that would easier on the knees I would appreciate it.

I agree with you, it's tough on the knees. In level two when she's doing pendulum lunges I substitute in some extra abs work, like the abs work from level one. And in level three i don't do the plio metrics (sp) because i know that would just finish off my knees. I do extra oblique twists and other stuff just while she's doing that. It keeps my heart rate up and saves my knees from being shredded. I want my abs shredded, not my knees.
do you feel a whole lot better? I do, although I've not lost any weight. Have lost only one inch off my wasit as well but I know i look better. I'm going to do her BFBM now, as it's SEVEN (omg) circuits. But I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to do a workout every SINGLE day for........... the rest of my life!!! i'd like to be able to 'phone it in' at least twice a week tbh.0 -
I have been doing 30ds for 8 days now and I have problems with the jumping jacks because of my knees. I'm going to try pump!0

Just a suggestion....I am doing Ripped in 30 and again, lots of jumping in that dvd too. But, she does do a static lung with running man with just the arms. So you just dip into a lung right or left leg and then run your little arms as fast as you can while still keeping your breath. It's a good substitution for some of the harder (jumping) cardio and still keeps up your heart rate. :happy:0

hiiii and congrats on finishing the 30ds! i am only on day 5 but MAN is it tough!!! :-))
i have also started doing the ripped in 30 yday, and i think it's much easier on the knees/joints as it has more static exercises and less hard core cardio (i hate the jumping jacks in the shred hahaha) - so i would definitely recommend:-))
good luck :-) x0 -
Hi I just finished my 30 day shred today also. I have arthritis and it was quite difficult on my knees also, but I am going to do another round of it because I am so pleased with the results, they are on my profile pic if you are interested.
I have Jillians 6wk6pack video and it is much easier on the knees, although you do get up and down off of the floor alot but there is not as much jumping and lunging.
Congrats on finishing.0 -
I did the same thing, those pendulum lunges are deathly and I don't really have issues with my knees. I just substituted it for regular lunges, basically the Level 1 lunges.
EDIT: ^^^ This was meant to be a quote reply, I'm not just talking out loud like a maniac.0 -
Thanks everyone for the replies, yes I feel great after finishing the 30 DS and I'm glad to hear that it's just not my knees lol. I haven't ever had knee problems so I was quite surprised and wanted to deny that it was from the Shred. I liked that it was only 20 minutes, that is a big plus for me trying to fit excessive into my day. I may do it again in a week or so and I'm going to check out some of the other DVD's suggested. I am also getting an elliptical in April and hope to incorporate that into my day as well. 30 DS one day( or some other DVD) and elliptical the next day. I am close to my goal weight and I know I have to work harder to get the weight off and 30 DS did that for me......5 lbs in 36 lol days. It worked for me! Now I just have to look after the old knees hehehe0
