Lost my drive

For the past two years I've been using MFP off-and-on to help control my calorie intake and to help encourage exercise. I seem to do really good for 3 - 4 months where I finally start to see results. But after a while I get derailed by regular life (i.e. getting busy and changes to routine). I would love some advice at how to pasts the family visits, vacations, crunch times at work, etc? How do you maintain your drive to exercise and eat right even when you don't feel like it?

Thanks for any help and advice you can give.

  • My motivation right now is that if I don't I will not live for as long as I would if I made this lifestyle change, I have made up my mind too many times to count to lose weight and ultimately I did lose; my drive. The love for a better life has to be greater than the love of food....being an instant gratification junkie and a food addict this is VERY hard for me to accept....but I also take it ONE day at a time.......AND I give myself 1 (just 1) Cheat day a week.....and I eat whatever I want. ;)

Make any food you can ahead of time and pack it to bring with you, regardless of what anyone says.
This is for YOU! I've done the rollercoaster many many times and I am at it again. I understand completely.

This shouldn't be about "dieting", it should be about changing your lifestyle. If all you want to do is lose weight that's easy. If you want to get healthy and stay there (which includes losing weight) that's hard, takes time and a real commitment. You have to want it for YOU. You have to realize that YOU deserve your time and attention. It wasn't (isn't) easy but I choose life over food. The way I was going I couldn't have both. Make up your mind. Take control of your life. You know you want it. So make it happen and don't let anyone or anything get in your way!
