I am looking at getting a HRM that also calculates calories burned. Does anybody know what is a good brand and about how much they spent on theres?

mio motiva $30 ebay new. It doesn't have a chest strap but if you are only looking to measure exercise calories, it makes more sense than spending over $150 for one with an annoying chest strap. It's pretty accurate imo if you know how to use it. I was overestimating my cals burned according to mfp estimates.

Without a chest strap, even if it give a calorie burned number. It won't be accurate because it does not take a continuous heart rate but only when you request it to. If that request is when your HR is high, the calories estimated will be high or if it is when you HR is low they will be low because it assumes your HR stays the same between those times. Get one with a chest strap. I don't have one, but Polar is by far the most popular. I have a Sportline from Walmart with a chest strap. • I have a New Balance N4 for women. $70.00 at Target. It has a chest strap which give you a more accurate reading of calories expended. Mine seems to be fairly accurate and consistent. It gives me fewer calories burned than MFP for all the types of workouts I do. It's easy to operate and read.

Wife and I got a pair of sportlines at ****s (edit LOL RICHARDS sporting goods) for 35 each and work just fine and the chest strap works on all the gym equipment fine. It's nice to get a real representation of calories based on exertion.

I absolutely love my Polar FT60, and would definitely recommend it. Of it is out of your price range, the FT4 is also a really good entry level model.

    Bought both through

I just got a Polar FT7 today from D!ck's Sporting Goods. It was mark $109, but rang up for $59.99. So far, I like it! I burn less calories that MFP calculates though. It's good to know that because I generally eat at least some of the exercise calories back. It has a chest strap and transmitter. I found the strap to be comfortable and I forgot it was there.
