Fitbit & calories burned successes

Hi everyone,
just wondering for those of you who use the fitbit (I've had mine for a week now) If I do the math and I want to try and loose 2 lbs/week, should I aim for 1000 calories less than what I've burned according to fitbit (7000 calorie deficit/week)? I am averaging around 2200-2400 calories burned in a 24 hour period according to fitbit. What have your experiences been like?
