How do you leave a member comment on the profile page?

I noticed that some people have member comments of their pages. It seems like an encouraging thing to have member comments left. I cant figure out how to do that. Does anyone know? Well obviously some of you do know because there are many comments out there. Will someone please share with me? thanks

    I believe you have to be their "friend"?

    Click on their picture and go to the bottom where is says comments. Click and type away.
