Polar ft7 question

Does anyone know if the Polar FT7 is waterproof? I was looking on he site I bought mine from and it says it is water resistant but don't push the buttons under water. Is water resistant really water proof though? I want to try wearing it swimming, but don't want to do any damage to it! Has anyone worn it while swimming? Both the chest strap and the watch?

You can wear the FT7(both chest strap and watch) while swimming but it may not always transmit the heart rate while in the water. Reason being when the area around where the transmitter gets wet, it tends not to transmit heart rate for some odd reason... Learned that lesson from my trainer a few weeks ago.
Reason why you can't push the watch buttons under water is because then it would let water in and ruin the watch.
Also make sure to wash the strap with soap and water afterwards... If not the chlorine and chemicals from the pool will mess with the strap and give you a screwy reading while on land0 -
Thank you. Doesn't sound like I should even bother then.0
