Better today than I have ever been in my life!

So, I went for my run today. I go to the gym from Monday thru Saturday. On Sunday the gym is closed, so at Christmas I decided that Sunday would be my running/jogging day.
While doing my little Sunday run today, it occurred to me that now at almost 47 years old, and I am in the best shape of my entire life! Don't misunderstand, I have many goals left to reach and I am not yet in the shape that I want. But, I am healthier today than at any time in my life.
As a child I was described as , husky, big boned, a large lad, portly, a country boy, heavy, among other borderline disparaging remarks. A big reason for my weight was who I was emotionally and how my body grew physically. In addition there were family issues. But this is now the past. Something to reflect upon, but a period of time that I can no longer let define who I am or what I can accomplish.
Today I ran 5K in under 30 min. Mondays & Wednesdays I train in Capoeira, Tuesdays & Thursdays I train in Jeet Kune Do. And, Friday & Saturday are my weight training days.
Perhaps it is a level of pride that borders on narcissism, but I feel good about how far I have come in such a short period of time! (18 months ago I could barely walk up 3 flights of stairs and mowing the lawn did me in for the day) When I think about my youth and how I was always the last picked for teams and how in high school I could not run one lap around the track. Yet now I am active 7 days a week and today I ran 5K!
Getting older is treating me well! I hope to keep it for many years!
Perhaps this is just the rambling of a prideful fool. But my hope is that anyone who reads this will take from it that anything is possible and that it is never too late to take control of your life.

You truly are an inspiration. NEVER underestimate your loss and the quality of life you have gained throughout this experience. You should be proud and you should let others know! I've seen you through your transformation and most people only dream of doing what you have done. For many, it is not even possible. For many, it's only a vision. But you did it.
I train with you and have seen you with my own eyes. You look great and surely feel just as awesome! I talk about you to family members and/or friends that are thinking about losing weight. So perhaps without even knowing it, you've inspired others to get healthy ;-)
You move fast; you game is getting some serious combinations that even surprise some of the more seasoned Capoeiristas. So yeh, be proud. I sure am. And I hope that I get to run the Spartan Race on your team. Cuz' you inspire me!
