Calorie Goals

I'm relatively new to MFP and so far I am finding it to be very helpful. I am wondering about the calorie goals that MFP sets. My daily goal is 1580. Is it best to consume as close to 1580 as possible without going over, or is it better to eat fewer calories as long as you don't go too low? I understand that going under 1200 calories on a regular basis can be counterproductive to weight loss. Also, how essential is it to keep track of your water consumption? I LOVE water so there is rarely a day when I don't drink well over the recommended amount. Any information would be appreciated and feel free to send a friend request as I am looking to build up a support network here. Thanks!

There is a debate wherether it is of any benefit to consume (enough) water per day, like 8 cups. Your body knows when you need water, and you will be thirsty.

Personnaly i listen to my body, and not businessmans who just try to sell you more bottled water.

Eat your daily goal. Not less, not more:)
It will not hurt your weight loss if you go lower than 1200, but why be hungry like that. Enjoy losing weight, dont torture yourself doing it.
