Fasting

I started this year by eating more instead of less to try and get my metabolism raised. It's not been great for a speedy weight loss, but I haven't ended up weighing more than I did when I started so that's okay.

Thing is, I'll soon be joining my friends in an annual 19 day fast from 2nd March to 21st March. The purpose is of course spiritual and in order to renew the balance between mind, body and spirit. My friends say they have never gained after going back to eating normally. This is a proper fast of not eating or drinking between sunrise and sunset.

Has anyone else done this before, and what's been your experience?

I have Muslim friends who fast from sunrise to sunset for a month for Ramadan every year. They inevitably gain weight having giant feasts in the evening!

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Lol, thanks for just coming out and saying it. No sugar-coating please

One my friends is a skinny guy, bordering on underweight. He said he doesn't tend to eat much in the evenings when fasting because when he breaks his fast with a cup of tea the hunger goes away! Then he simply eats a couple of spoonfuls of warm soup. So that sounds like about 300 cals of breakfast cereal in the morning, and maybe 180 cals of soup (I'm being generous with that estimate) in the evening...meaning he eats about 480 cals each day for the 19 days. Mind boggling, I'm going back and forth in my thinking on this.
