Hey mommies I wanted to start a group for moms with young children because it's hard to get a workout in when you have a young one along. I don't have time or the money to go to the gym and by the time they are both in bed I have no more energie. Therefore I wanted to start this group to share ways to fit in some exsercise in the day and make it a routine. What I have been doing this week is go to the playground with the kids and climb, jump and slide in the structures. Also I have been jumping rope and trying to hulla hoop (my son thinks it's really funny). When my son is busy I try to tend to the yard. And I want to fit in some strenght training 3 times weekly for just about 10 minutes to begin with.
Weight in will be tomorow please come and join me drop the pounds.

Hello. How old is your son? I have 2 kids, Anna Grace, she is 3 and will be 4 on June 5th, she keeps me very busy. Jacob Quint is 21 months old and will be 2 on July 14th, he is walking and all over the place, also keeps me very busy. I find that I have to get up early in the morning to do my exercise before they get up or when they take their naps.0

When I used to work out at home I used to do it with them in the room- Its good to let your kids see you being fit and active-- They would also try and join in which was cute
Now I just go to the gym right after work I lost my motivation in working out at home- But as for some workouts if your kid(s) are small enough put them in a jogging stroller and hit the pavement- do some pushups for strength training- Also there are great dvds that you can try as well0 -

My kids have Bible names too--
David, Sarah, Faith, Aaron, Rebekah, Hope, Abigail, Joshua and Caleb--
You can't know how many people ask, "Where's Charity? Since we have Faith and Hope-- we thought it a bit hokey to throw a Charity in the mix.
But we love the symbolism of Joshua and Caleb being our (presumably) last two sons, since the story of them in the Bible is so sweet-- they were the only two of the original spies sent into view the Promised Land to ever be allowed to dwell in the land, because of their faithfulness--
Okay-- Bible class over-- :blushing:

I'm in. I have been trying to find the right group and this sound like it. I have two kids, Chloe Renee is 9 and Lane is 3. I work two jobs from the same office and the kids go to work with me. I too have a hard time going to the gym. I would love to have the time, but I am never without the kids and most gyms in my area don't offer daycare. I have started out slow this week, but would like to really kick this thing in gear and get healthy. I live on a farm and will be starting my garden in a few weeks. I figure that will burn a lot of calories there. Until then, I have started walking after lunch. The weather has gotten nice enough this week and Lane loves to get out of the office and get fresh air. I started yesterday with 30 minutes and would like to do that atleast 3 times a week, if not more. I hope to lose about 20 pounds and more importantly get healthy. I can't wait to get to know all of you!

Good Afternoon,
We have 3 kids. Our oldest daughter, Tenley, is 6. Our son, Dylan is 4 and our youngest daughter, Emerson, is 3. Working out with them at hom to my 30 Day Shred DVD is hilarious. At first I was very self-conscious doing it but after a couple of times, they started doing the moves too, so they keep me motivated to do it. I want to show them they can be proud of their exercises and they don't need to hide getting healthy.
I go to the gym at my work 3 - 4 times a week. If it weren't for that I'd be S.O.L.
I do spend a night or two a week either dancing with the kids or giving them airplane rides on my legs.
Good luck!

Hello ladies, I am so happy to see such a much needed group created.
I have two boys 6 and 2 yrs old and we all started doing The Biggest Looser Cardio Max. The boys love it. Even though they are not doing it correct they are still moving their little bodies. And end of our 40 min work out we are sweaty and energized.
I do squats holding my 35lbs 2 year old and man oh man did that burn....0 -
Hello all! :flowerforyou: I would also like to join. I am a SAHM with two kids. Marshall, who is 2 1/2 and Marley, who is 10 months.
My Hubby is great and gets the kids up so I can go to the gym in the morning. At home I do my exercises with my ball and bands. The kids love it. I will warm up with them singing songs and dancing just to get my heart rate up. I love to hear them say "I'm doing exercises"!0 -

I have a 5 month old and yes, I totally understand that it is hard to fit in the time when you have SO much going on... I TRY to get to the gym at 5:00 in the morning before DF goes to work and/or Ethan wakes up... But that is so hard when you finally get into bed at 11:00 or midnight. Anyway, I bought some home dvd's and i try to fit those in. I also use the baby as a weight... I play games with him and he loves to go on walks where I explain things to him. I am constantly moving throughout the day with him but I wish I could find a fit schedule that worked every day... maybe start with a walk?0

I have 2 boys, a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old. My main workout happens after the 6-year-old goes off to school, around 8am (a P90X video). I'll also do a round of Classical Stretch in a few hours after the 3-year-old had breakfast and settles into his own thing.
Sometimes the younger one will grab some toys and hold them like weights and pretend to join me, hehe. Other times he'll opt to play on the computer while "mommy is exercising".0 -
Hey my son is 22 months his birthday is June 12 and my daughter is only 2 3/4 months. Therefore my activities are limited. And any workout can be cut short.0

Count me in too!! I have a 4 year old Bryce and an almost 2 year old Alvyia. They keep me very busy during the day along with the 2 other kids I babysit for. I usually go workout early in the am or in the evening when my hubby gets home from work!! He is gracious enough to watch the kids so that I can go workout!!0

Hi! I have three little ones! One 7yr old daughter, 7yr old son (not twins, step lol) and the baby is almost 2! My family is me life (hubby included) . I work 2 jobs, sometimes working 2 weeks with out a day off! So far it has been hard but Im getting it done. Our family loves to play the Wii Fit together. We have a weight machine so at least I can get 20 min of strength training 3 times a week. I have been missing cardio so am planing to join a gym by next week. So far I have been trying to jog up the stairs at work at least 3-4 times a day (hospital 3 stories). My kids have noticed the new healthy life style I've been trying to maintain. I think its great when they ask questions. Ive really got their interest right now.0

When's your daughter's birthday? My youngest son's birthday is 1/22/09, and my middle child will be 2 on June 14. Sounds like our kids are close in age. I also have a four year old. I'm on maternity leave now, so I just exercise when I can fit it in. That's usually either naptime, or I exercise in my bedroom while the older two play in the rec room next door. The baby's asleep then. What I did before getting pregnant was to workout early in the morning before work. I will attempt that again when I return to work in August (teacher), but we'll have to see since it will mean getting up pretty darn early. I could do it at night, but I feel more motivated in the morning.
Anyway, today's weight is 191.8. BMI is like 32 or 33.

Wow that's funny are kids really are very close in age. My daughter's bd is the 31 of jan.0 -
Today i went to sdhoping with the kids and my mom and it was pretty fast paste because we had a lunch time deadline. haha I'll count that has a cardio. Then we went to the parc where I climbed up and down with my son. Now that my son is in bed I will get a strenght training in and then take a shower and sit down with tea and enjoy a good movie.
Please everyone share your stats so that we can see the difference from week to week. Good luck and keep playing!0 -
Good Monday everyone. I didn't check in this weekend...it was crazy busy. I guess I did better on my eating than I normally would have on a weekend, but still not great. We had dinner out with freinds on Saturday and Breakfast with my family on Sunday (my mom makes The Best dried beef gravy ) I slipped a little but not too bad. I did more physical activity than normal too (stacking wood, yard work and working on farm equipment)
I am looking at today as a new start. I would like to set a weekly goal if anyone else is interested. My goal this week is to drink plenty of water. I am a Coke-a-holic and would most days give my right arm for one. I am limiting myself to one a day for now. I hope to cut it out completely in the next couple of weeks. I figure if I am drinking all of the water that I am supposed to be, I won't have time to drink the coke! I am thinking that I will report in on my water situation when I weigh in on Thursday and then set a new goal. I am hoping this will make me a little more accountable. Does anyone else have a goal they would like to share?0 -
Bump (for the link so I can read and post a bit later today)
Looks like a good thread.

My daughter's baptism is in 2 weeks. I have a pair of pants that are tight now but I'm hoping to fit comfortably in them by then. Therefore my goal is to bicycle for 25 min twice per week and do a strenght workout every 2 days. Also I want to go play with my son at the parc at least 4 times this week. Oh and I want to do some jump rope for at least 4 min twice this week. That should be a good goal.0

Hey moms I found a site with some good exercise, also very good for new moms. Try it out.

You know, it would be nice if HRM's come with a pause button for those times you need to pause the exercise video long enough to clean up after sickly boys.
My 3-year-old .. poor guy, he says his blanket is sick too. And of course hubby is just getting over his flu, hehe.0 -
Hi ladies i would love to join!!! I have a 6month old boy and he needs all my attention i try go for stroller walks when it is warm out but its been cold for a while!! I just had my sons baptism on Sunday and i hate so bad and i had a tight dress on i looked 7 months prego after i was done lol
My goal is to be back to pre pregnancy weight witch is 134 gee
I am 153 so 20lbs to go when i was prego i gained 85lbs so i have lost 60lbs in 6 months but these last 20lbs are so hard to get off0 -
Mother of three boys here. 6, 3, and 2. I used to try and fit exercise in at home via a video while the kids were sleeping. It IS important for the kids to see us exercise but when they're really little they often get in the way
I now go to the local YMCA after finding out about a program they have that bases the membership fee off of your income. My husband is in school full time so I am the only source of income so believe me I know what it means to be on a budget. The rate is very reasonable and its for a family membership. That means I can take my kids to the child watch while I go to spinning class (and hopefully zumba once i work my way up to it) and they can participate in different activities for the children (swimming, basketball, etc.) You should look into it. Its definitly not something they advertise so you may have to pry a bit - its worth it though! As hard as it is to drag my butt there after work with kids in tow (my husband goes to classes at night) I have been sticking to my guns and I feel great afterwards. Tired - but great! :glasses:0
