Lost strength after 1 week off weights, possible?

I am curious about something, last week I took a break from weights, mostly because it was Winter break for my kids and we had a lot of things to do. I have been lifting heavy for around 7-8 months now, anyway, when I did my workout today (upper body) I seem to have lost some strength. I could only do 10 push ups (was doing 15 before), and my bench press seemed weaker also.
So anyone want to offer a clue as to what is happening? Is it possible to lose strength that quickly? Inquiring minds want to know!

i find that when i take transition weeks between lifting cycles the first week back always feels like im weaker but then your body re-adjusts and come back stronger then before, don't worry you havent lost all of your hard work , your body will catch up quick, good luck!0

100% agree. One week should not do anything, could just be confidence, lack of energy...a lot of variables contribute to good and bad lifting days0 -
Thanks! Hopefully that is what it was.0
