Salmon question

Are there any salmon experts out there? I've been eating fresh cooked salmon filet and just noticed now that it has alot of calories... any of you limit yourselves when it comes to salmon? Do you choose one kind in particular that's less fatty? (I know wild is leaner that farm-raised...)

Thank you for your help!

I know it has good fats in it. It's extremely healthy for you but is a bit high in calories.

I try to eat "high quality" calories. Even though salmon is high in calories, it's great omega 3 fats which are good for you. Wonderfully high quality calories. Sort of like avocado. So, just watch the portion size--4-6 ounces tops.
  • Salmon is delicious but I try to limit it even though I can eat a whole filet. Don't know of a low-fat salmon.

I loveee salmon! I buy the wild caught and grill it with a little of a reduced sauce made from OJ and maple syrup. I like it plain too though or with some lemon dill sauce made with low fat mayo. It doesn't take much of it to really add a nice flavor. Salmon has healthy fats in it so I wouldnt worry about it. If you can't spare the calories maybe skip eating the skin as it looks a little fatty to me, I'm not sure though.

I believe fresh wild caught is best, but it's not in season here right now, so we've been eating farm-raised. So yummy that I don't care about the calories!
