No desire for marathons? Me too!

Does anyone on here NOT want to do a marathon? I don't! LOL I dunno -- I just don't have the desire to just run a long distance just to run it. Seems as boring as a treadmill run. I've always liked sports though.
Anyone on here have an alternative sport you're shooting for?

Nothing wrong with not wanting to run a marathon. I ran one last year and have registered to run another this year, but I honestly sort of question why I do this sometimes. Truthfully I just feel like I'm inviting injury every time I run more than 15 miles at a time. But it's something my boyfriend and I do together, and I look forward to our training runs in the summer.
I do really enjoy rec sports. I played on a co-ed football team last year and it was a blast!0 -

I plan on starting a serious cycling program. I don't know if it makes any more since then a marathon, but it is a lot easier on the joints. I also want to investigate rock climbing, but that is more about strength training then cardio and may have to wait until I drop more weight and increase my strength. All in good time.0 -
I have ran 10 marathons but on a break right now. Honestly if it weren't for all the great people in my running club I probably wouldn't have done any more than one.
I have two little ones right now and am really struggling with motivation since the second was born. I have started doing more strength training recently and really enjoy it so I'm thinking if I'm not loving it why am I doing it? So I guess my alternate sport currently is strength DVDs.0 -

Road marathons hold very little interest to me. I can do them in my sleep. I'd rather hit the amazingly beautiful trails where I live and do ultras.0

I had no desire to run a marathon until after I ran my first Half. I just loved the crowd and the excitement of the race and I had alot of respect for the full marathoners who were doing double what I had done where I felt like I was going to die.
Then I finally did a marathon and had a disappointing finish due to under-training. I ran a few more races over he years and had a much better 2nd marathon. I almost quit running but for some reason I randomly decided I wanted to run yet another marathon. I guess I'm addicted to the challenge.0
