hi,
i was just wondering if this is really bad for me or anything?!
its not that i have planned it, its just i do my shopping monthly so get a lot of things that can be stored/frozen and i've worked out a good system so i've stuck with it...

porridge and defrosted frozen summer berries
rice cake
fruit
soup
jelly pot
rice cake
i do mix up my dinners when i can but usually either turkey and veg curry with quinoa or turkey and veg stir fry with rice noodles

will this kill my metabolism??
i don't mean to eat the same thing every day, it just works for me!
i can't have the temptation in the house so not that much variation is possible!

When I first started out, I was like that. Now, I tend to mix up my fruit and veggies a lot more, as well as my snacks. Variety is good simply because different foods have different nutrients, and if you're eating the same stuff every day, you're going to continue to be deficient in whatever nutrients you're not getting from those things.

Eating the same thing every day will not kill your metabolism but you will almost certainly be deprived of essential vitamins and minerals. It is by eating a wide range of foods that we get all of the nutrients we need so try and add some variety and make sure you plenty of whole, unprocessed foods.

    Just my two cents.

Yes, variety is good. Some nuts, some granola, a small amount of dark chocolate, some dried fruits, some fresh fruits, different fresh veggies, some seafood, different kinds of bread...

But I do get it about the temptation thing. I love tuna and eat it 4 or 5 times a week. I'll probably lose the weight just in time to die of mercury poisoning. But it does control my temptations.

    Hang in there! :)

As suggested above the only downside i can think of is not much variation in nutrients and the possibility of boredom setting in.

If it works for you though, good stuff. I tend to have the same thing for breakfast and lunch each day for convenience and then mix up the last meal of the day.
  • I think what you eat is well balanced and you should continue eating that way if it works for you.
  • I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch most days cos I have various nutrients in those meals. Some days i do change it up a bit though. I have a small variety of snacks that I choose from as well and my dinners always vary every night.
I eat what I enjoy and I know I get enough nutrients from those foods....until I get bored I'll just continue on :-)

Eat what you like just make sure you're getting fueled properly :-)

Canned tuna is actually one of the safest fish, mercury-wise. Wild yellow fin, though, is up there in the list of "occasional indulgences" due to mercury content.
