Manual oil sprayers... great way to cut calories

I figure there might be someone out there who hasn't thought about using these, but manual oil sprayers (they usually operate by air pressure from a built-in pump) can really cut how much oil you need to cook.

If you have a kitchen scale it's fairly easy to figure out how much you use. I pumped it about as far as it would go, and blasted the oil into a container on my tared scale until it read 1 gram. I ended up with a 5 second blast. Next, I weighed 1T of the olive oil, and got 11g. With 120 cals per T, I ended up with 11 calories per 5 seconds, for my sprayer.

So, by using two 5 second blasts while cooking my asparagus last night, I was able to cut my oil useage (if I had used 1T oil/butter to the pan, which I had done before) by 80%!

Oooh, great idea! I have one, but had no idea how much I was using, so wouldn't really use it because of that (sad, I know). Thanks! :)
