Is it possible to get rid of Cellulite?

The yo-yo dieting has left my body looking like a hail storm pelted it... it makes me want to cry just looking in the mirror. I'm just wondering if exercising and eating healthier will also help get rid of the cellulite, or am I stuck with it no matter how much I weigh?

Things that can help the appearance of cellulite: drinking lots of water, reducing your sodium intake, eating clean foods, mixture of cardio and strength training exercises. That said, it also depends on your genetics. Ever see those thin, totally in shape girls at the gym with a bit of cellulite on the back of their thighs? They can thank their parents for that. Some people are naturally pre-disposed to having some cellulite, but you can at least minimize it by doing those things I mentioned. Trust me, I'm right there with you, trying SO hard to get nice and smooth!

I still have it, but a LOT less than I did before.

I run, lift heavy and ate with a small calorie deficit (ie, I didn't starve myself). I wish I took pictures of my backside from the start, because I'd already lost 20# when this "during" picture was taken. The after is just 8 pounds later. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/LorinaLynn/view/just-8-pounds-214409

agree with all of this! Since I started drinking more water and working out the cellulite on the back of my thighs is a lot less noticeable. It's still there but I don't see it nearly as much.

    Yes.

    Just weigh less.

Even thin people have it, it's just less bulgy.

I've realized lately that I just don't drink a lot of anything, so I'm trying to work on that. Sodium... eek! I did put that on my food diary to be tracked at someone else's suggestion (for why my weight isn't dropping, not about the cellulite thing). What do you mean about "clean foods"?

There's hope--just keep up the weight loss and exercise! After reading this topic, I had to take a magnifying mirror and examine my thighs. They're now smooth! I still have spider veins, but I can't see the cellulite! It was there, but hard work has paid off. Don't give up!

"Clean" is referring to whole foods that haven't been processed at all or very much. The adages of "only eat foods from the perimeter of the grocery," "eat foods as close to their natural state as possible," and "don't eat foods with more than 5 ingredients or any ingredients that you can't pronounce." Basically, fill up on fresh (organic) produce, lean meats, eggs, and fish, nuts, seeds, and other healthy fats (olive oil, avocado oil, avocados), Greek yogurt, higher-fat milk (low-fat and no-fat often has sugar and other processed additives to make up for removing the fat), and so on. Cut out processed foods, refined sugars, alcohol (moderation), etc. Eating high quality and nutrient dense foods 80% of the time will make a huge differences in your body composition (glowing skin and less cellulite, etc) and allows for 20% of sanity in navigating eating out or just having fun. Just some suggestions. This is the approach I am taking with great results so far. Eating clean 80% of the time is much easier than stressing about the 20% of the time I don't (and I love wine, so there was NO giving that up!). Add in strength training and a little cardio, and you are all set! Hope this helps! Good luck!

Edit: I didn't mention whole grains because I just don't eat a lot of grains. I've cut back on wheat and gluten and it's helped me to feel a lot better. I eat spelt bread and some other sprouted grain breads. I also have tried alternate flours in some things. I still do have the occasional baked good with all the "normal" refined flours and sugars in it, but when I make things myself, I try to make better choices and substitutions. Just my preference.

I found using a body brush has reduced the appearance of my cellulite dramatically, after my sister told me my legs looked terrible (whilst getting ready as bridesmaid on the morning of her wedding! Long dress tho!) I started massaging my thighs & bum with a massager thing (circular disc with knobbly bits on one side) and massaging in moisturiser. The lumpiness reduced in a couple of weeks.

I'm really bad about drinking water too!! One thing that's really been helping me is that I got an electric kettle for my office, and I make black tea and herbal teas throughout the day (and make sure to log my water intake here on MFP). I consider tea to be about equal to water (especially herbal tea!), even though I know it's not exactly the same thing! And I really like it a lot better than plain water. I also make sure I have a glass of water next to me when I'm working out and it's amazing how I'll drink it down when I'm exercising if it's right there next to me. I've noticed I'm much more hydrated since I've made a concentrated effort to make sure I'm getting more liquid / water in my diet. Good luck!!
