Nutrition info on butchered beef?

My parents gave us part of a butchered beef and I have no clue about the nutritional numbers for the ground beef when I use that for any meals. Does anyone have any ideas on this? It tastes so much better than store bought beef, so I'm sure it's higher in cals/fat!

Standard ground beef is 85% lean, 15% fat. You can find it in the MFP database using the percentages as your search criteria. I often grind my own beef from bottom round cuts just because it tastes so much better than the pre-mixed ground beef.

You are welcome! You inspired me to grab some beef chuck roast that was on sale today so I can grind it up tomorrow for future use. Enjoy the fresh beef!

Compare the color of the meat to that of what is in the store. Leaner meats are usually more red in color.

We buy our beef from a local farmer. I don't know for sure, but I think it's fairly lean. There is very little fat to drain off when I brown it. I use 85/15 or even 90/10.

Same here. I'm not sure what the percentage is but I know there is a lot more to drain off with store bought.
