Exercise Bike

I've just got an exercise bike, and was wondering what is recomended in terms of the amount of time you use it for and if to do it in 2 sections and so on...

I'll probably be using it 5 nights a week as the other days I play football.

I've never used one before so would just like a few tips, thank you :)
