Acceptable Body Fat %

Well, my abdominal skinfold was hard to read accurately because it was over 30mm, but I think I was at about 22%. My two photos in my profile attest to it - the one with the black/white tile background was taken around Thanksgiving and the main photo was last weekend.
I mean - look at the recent photo. Does that look borderline obese to you? 21%? No way.0 -
How do you log your Gazelle in your exercise? I log it as elliptical but i'm pretty sure that's wrong...
I use my HRM to log in any exercise I do for the most accurate estimation, although if you don't have one here's a calculator...the gazelle glider is there: http://www.fatburn.com/free_tool_activity_burn.asp0 -
I've been thinking about buying the Tanita BF scale thingy as a sort of summer present for my boyfriend (and myself, hee hee). Is it no good then?0

What is your goal body fat % that you are trying to reach?
What do you find acceptable in general % wise?
I'm currenly at 22% body fat per the army standards (weight coupled with neck measurement and waist measurement and height). I have heard and seen a lot of commentary on if men can't see their abs that they are "fat & nasty". (a man generally starts seeing abs at around 15-16% body fat)
My goal is 20% Though I may reconfigure that to a lower number, though 20% is where I was upon graduating from basic training years and years ago.
Acceptable is entirely relative to what you want. If you want to see abs on yourself, aim for the 15%. If you don't care, then don't worry about it. I wouldn't do it to please anyone but yourself.
I don't know my BF% but it's somewhere around 27% according to my caliper, which could be off a little. My goal is 18%. I'm planning on a Bod Pod reading in 3-6 months.0 -
Set your goal so that it's attainable. When you get there, reassess and either change to maintenance or continue to lose. When you get to 20%, you'll probably want to go lower, simply because, you can and who doesn't want to have an aesthetically appealing body if it's something they feel they can attain?
As far as what I feel is acceptable, it doesn't really matter. You are who you are, I don't judge by how much fat someone has on their body. Not everyone has a "calling" to want to lose weight or improve their image. To some it's not a priority. For you it should be a priority to maintain a good level of fitness as you're a soldier.
Speaking of which...I strongly dislike it when I see overweight men/women in uniform.0 -
As of yesterday I'm at 22.5%. I feel I have much work to do on my body. My goal is 18-20%.0
