sorry, i know im not supposed to repost, but no one replied to my other post (on another board) and I wanted some feedback!:
the scale has been stuck for over 3 weeks now, bouncing back and forth with the same 1.5 lbs. im working out HARD 6x a week, and sticking to a good range in my calories everyday (1600-1800, which is my BMR (1470) plus some workout calories), and ive only gone ove a few hundred 1x a week at most.
im going to do a modified South Beach Phase 1 for a few days, in hopes that breaking up my food routine and eating less carbs/no processed foods help move the scale again. (i say modified because im allowing myself to eat 2 daily fruits. the rest of the day is protein and veggies, and im not going to go nuts being strict on things like a portion of stir fry condiments or light dressing). think this might help?

There are several factors to keep in mind regarding your weight loss plateau such as gain of muscle. It sounds like you have been working out quite a bit so, this may be feasible. Don't rely so much on the scale - how are your clothes fitting?
As for doing modified SB phase 1, I say go for it. Not only is it healthier to remove processed/packaged foods from your diet, it also may give you that little boost that you need. Whenever I feel as though I have been over-indulging (as I am today), I go to a similar plan as what you're suggesting for about a week just to "detox" all of the bad stuff from my body.
One more suggestion is to make sure you are drinking enough water. Nutrition/health professionals recommend 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of your weight. (example: a person that weighs 140lbs should drink at least 70 ounces of water each day)
Good Luck!0 -
im 5'6"- weight 173 (give or take a lb, depending on the day). goal: 150-155.
i did the bodpod 6 months ago and my BMR was 1470 (I am going again next weekend). my BMR, when tested at different gyms in the past, has always been in the 1400s.0 -

thanks- i agree that even a few days of natural eating is a good detox. i mainly drink water (8-12 cups a day), maybe 1 20-oz diet soda, and an occasional poweraid zero.
my clothes fit better- but i think that the scale should be dropping too... i always worked out hard and 4-5+ days per week...but about 2 months ago i upped the intensity of my lifting routine. i know that might contribute- but i want to be able to quantify my loss, ya know?0
