Everyone always says the best movies are the classics, but I can think of a ton of box office hits in the past 20 years that have made film history. A lot of the time, some films go unrecognized in their greatness.

If you go to: http://www.imdb.com/features/15thanniversary/staff , these folks picks some of the movies they considered to be the greatest in the past 15 years.

I personally love a good comedy. I think it's a challenge to make a solid comedy. Since so many things can be considered funny, sometimes comedies can lack an actual point and end up a big mess.

I only have a handful of movies that I could watch over and over and could get the same satisfaction and entertainment from, and other movies I wish I had never laid eyes on!

The best movies I've seen made in the past 15 or so years have to be:

American History X- 1998
Remember the Titans- 2000
Se7en-1995
Finding Nemo- 2003
Gran Torino- 2008
Old School- 2003
13 Going on 30- 2004
Shallow Hal- 2001
Amreeka- 2009
The Dark Knight- 2008
The Rebound- 2009

I'm trying to mix it up a bit, by adding a little of this and that.....

Worst movies I've ever seen:

Soul Plane- 2004
Harold and Kumar (any)
Norbit- 2007
Glitter- 2001

I have so many more, but these are nice short lists. This is just my personal opinion. (I know when I get home and look at my dvds I'm going to be facepalm, forgot about that!)

So here comes the fun part! I'd like to see from all of you what you think are some of the best movies you've seen in the past 15 years( give or take). It'll be fun to see what others say. You can break it up into categories or include why or why not. Make it fun!!

    Best films:

The Shawshank Redemption (I know, I know, it's not post-1995 and everyone names this one when asked about their favourite film, but it's so good it had to be mentioned!)
Leon (again, probably not post-1995 but still amazing - featuring a very young Natalie Portman who is just mesmerising)
    City of God
    The Bucket List
    Spirited Away
    American History X
    Dodgeball

    Worst films:
    Ghost Ship (utter ****e)
    2012 (seriously - don't bother)
Tree of Life (pretentious and weird)

    Edited to add Dodgeball!

Memento starring Guy Pearce and directed by Christopher Nolan. Phenomenal film!

I love the "head scratchers" that require at least two viewings :-)
