Hi, I am new to this site. I have to lose about 200 pounds. I have a long way to go. I need some help on the subject of overeating of junk food. Any ideas or helpful hints that have worked for anyone. Thanks, Peg

Junk food as in Fast food? or just snack food?
Is your problem you snack all day, or do you tend to binge?

What works for me might not work for you BUT:
I will buy one "junk food" item at a time and break it up into 100 calorie packs. I buy the snack size ziploc baggies, and I measure out 100 calories (or a serving size) and put them in the bags. This week I got iced animal crackers for my "junk snack" so I opened the bag, portioned out all the servings in snack baggies, and then I placed them back in the bag. Makes it much easier to keep yourself from going overboard. If I didn't do that, I'd open the bag and just start mindless munching. I also TRY to drink all my junk food with 16oz of water.

This was always a struggle for me.....some suggestions:

    - Don't buy it.
    - Plan out your meals, and if you work outside the home, pack healthy food to take to work with you
    - If you are the one at work who has a candy dish, get rid of it
    - Drink lots of water. In fact, always have an insulated tumbler of water with you if you can
    - Buy healthy snacks - and I don't mean just fruits and veggies (although you need those, too). My snack is a chocolate chip protein bar.
    - Remember this: There will always be junk/sweet food. If you say no "this time", there will be a next time. Saying no will also help guarantee that you have a 'next time' to say yes to.
    - Give yourself a weekly reward that is sweet/junk - completely depriving yourself will almost guarantee that you will binge on it and then feel awful.
    - Don't give up. Don't EVER give up. It's not called a 'battle' for nothing.

    Good luck!
