I know the importance of weight/resistance training, especially as you get older, but I am a complete cardio addict. I have done better this week in doing crunches and some free weight workouts. How do I stay motivated to keep it up?

Oh man, if you come up with a way, let me know. NOTHING motivates me to do weights. I absolutely hate it. I see the after pictures of some women here who only do weights and they look fantastic, and I think, wow, I should do that. Then I think, heck no. I tried free weights, machines and all kinds of bands and things.

My next attempt will be with a kettleball. I have found an RKC certified instructor in my hometown (www.dragondoor.com) who can train me. With any luck, it will stick and I can finally get some definition!

I LOVE cardio, my running is everything to me. Weights on the other hand, i do them every now and then. If you find the motivation mojo let me know.

I take a weight lifting class at my gym. Group Power its called. I love it! They tell me what to do, we use free weights and I dont feel intimidated going into the free weight room all by myself. If it wasnt for that class I would not be doing good. Its fun, the music is loud and you pick your weights. I suggest checking if there is something similar at your gym. Good Luck!

I have just started weights to compliment my running and I have set myself some goals! I find that those really help me to stay motivated! I am doing press ups and free weights with the goals of doing full press ups and chin ups in the future! So looking forward to that!! :)

I'd say find a way to mix them :) I walk/run on the treadmill about 4 times a week, and compliment that with cardio-strength workouts that target my whole body. (I use bodyrock.tv for the workouts)
