machines like the elliptical?

I'm looking for machines that could be very much like the elliptical in that they are better for your joints etc, but something that potentially I wouldn't need to hold onto a bar for?
I'm having an issue with my hand and I'm not supposed to use a machine where I have to hold on to it for a bit...
Is walking my only option (machine wise)
