My gym doesn't have callipers (lame) - and it only has one of those machines that you stand on and isn't very accurate.
Is it justifiable to go to the doctors/nurse and get it done there?

Depends - why do you measure it ?
do you want a precise figure, an estimation, etc...0 -
you could do that or buy calipers, bodybuilding.com - anywhere from $5 -$25
you could do hydrostatic weighing too, thats the most accurate way0 -
Ive never had it measured before and I am curious. I want it to be accurate.
Hydrostatic weighing...? googling...0 -
you sit in a tank of water, breath out all the air, they calculate your bf % off of density - short version0

I don't really like the online estimation methods much. Caliper method accuracy changes depending on who's doing it and how experienced they are. And the impedence method is very susceptble to tiny changes in even hydration. I'm a shorter, muscular (always have been) female and the other methods always seemed suspicious to me (BMI numbers are off too). I live in a city with a university so I just paid $25 to have them perform a hydrostatic test on me. Hydrostatic test proved impedence was off by more than 25% of BF%.0
