Staying under calories, but over in sugar and sodium! HELP

I have been staying under my calories each day, but I noticed I tend to go over in my sugar and my sodium. Does anyone know, will this effect my weight loss? I heard that as long as you are under your calories, the rest isn't so important, but I find that hard to believe. If anyone has any information, advise, or suggestions, I would really appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks!
