Resting between workouts

I'm doing circuit training six days a week, and my program prescribes no resting between workouts. But, when I feel winded, or my muscles just can't push through it, I have to rest! So, my question is: is there really a downside to resting between workouts? What is the benefit of pushing straight through? I figure that I'm doing the same workout either way, but adding rests will just take more time, so shouldn't the calories I burn be about the same?

I guess the whole point of no rests to keep your heart rate up! That way you'll burn way more calories! But if you need to take a break go for it!0
